Lee Westwood's U.S. Open clubs

SAN DIEGO — After shooting 70 on Saturday to get himself into Sunday's final pairing with Tiger Woods at the U.S. Open, Lee Westwood was asked what he needed to do to prepare for the final round. "If you let it get to you, you have problems. But I'm a fairly calm person and fairly level-headed, so I'll just stick with my own game plan and try to do the things I'm doing."

What he'd been doing was avoiding big numbers, hitting fairways (60% so far this week) and putting very well (1.59 putts per green in regulation).

Westwood missed getting into the Monday playoff with Tiger Woods and Rocco Mediate by only one shot. It was his best performance in a major to date.
