Furyk's new driver makes the cut

Posted at 11:43 AM by David Dusek | Categories: British Open, Drivers, Jim Furyk, Titleist

Furyk_titleist909_600x450 SOUTHPORT, England -- Jim Furyk had been using the TaylorMade r7 SuperQuad driver for almost two years, but now he seems to have found its successor.

At the AT&T National two weeks ago he used Titleist's yet-to-be-released 909 D2. The club must have passed Furyk's first test because he has it in the bag here at Birkdale. In fact, he had two in his bag, each with a different shaft.

The 909D2 (click on the image for a better look) has a 460cc head and is designed to combine a high-launch angle with workability. Adam Scott has also played with the 909, but last week at the Barclay's Scottish Open he had his Titleist 905R in the bag.

Look for a detailed report on the new Titleist drivers in The Shop and in an upcoming issue of GOLF Magazine.
