Camilo Villegas's BMW Championship winning clubs
Ever since his runner-up finishes in 2006 at the FBR Open and the Ford Championship at Doral, a lot has been expected of Colombia's Camilo Villegas. Blending power and creativity, pundits and competitors alike saw him as a potential force on the PGA Tour.
On Sunday, he put everything together and earned his first PGA Tour win at the BMW Championship. Villegas is primarily known for his bulging biceps and enormous drives, but his putting sealed the deal in St. Louis. He averaged a tournament-best 27 putts per round and just 1.608 putts per green in regulation despite a four-putt on the ninth hole during his second round.
Camilo's putter of choice is a specialized version of the Titleist by Scotty Cameron Circa '62 #6. The putter is heel-toe weighted with a back flange that is shaped like a B. (Click on the image for a closer look.)
His is unique because it is made from German stainless steel, which should make it feel softer than the standard model, which is made from carbon steel. Villegas also had lead tape on the bottom of the putter; many players prefer to use a heavier putter on wet, slow greens. Heavier putters can also help golfers develop a more rhythmic stroke.
According to Cobra Golf, here's a complete list of the clubs in Villegas' bag:
Driver: Cobra L4V X (9°)
Fairway: Cobra Speed LD (15.5°, 18°)
Irons: Cobra Carbon CB (3), Cobra Pro CB (5-PW)
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Spin Milled (54°, 58°, 63°)
Putter: Titleist by Scotty Cameron GSS Circa '62 #6
Ball: Titleist Pro V1

remember something. scotty cameron/titleist PAYS tour pros to use the scotty cameron line of putters. If they finish in the top 20 in a tornament they receive THOUSANDS of dollars. guerin Rife and other putter companies do NOT.

Camilo had previously used a GSS Circa 62 #6 model with customer FL Gator paintfill until he was recently spotted with a Rife putter. I'm guessing he was trying out the Rife, but switch back to the Circa 62 #6. This one looks more "stock" on the paint fill, but I'd be surprised that he'd switch from a GSS model to a Carbon Steel model.
Scott's website is still showing it to be GSS. Might be a little less custom. See Scotty's website and read the bio on Camilo...it says GSS.

He didn't win with a GSS putter it was an off the rack Circa 62 # 6 which can clearly be seen by the markings on the putter. Even Scotty Cameron's site had the right putter.

I just wonder if golf.com will ever do a good featurette on Scotty Cameron putters, seems like most of the pros use his sticks!
