Sergio Garcia making equipment changes
Sergio Garcia recently said that one of his short-term goals was to supplant Phil Mickelson as No. 2 in the world rankings. He made the move with his victory at the HSBC Champions in Shanghai. To help him in his quest, Garcia enlisted the help of some new gear.
He recently switched from TaylorMade's Tour Burner driver to the company's new r7 Limited (9.5°). The Limited, which was released in August, has a more triangular shape and three adjustable weight ports (the Tour Burner does not have adjustable weight ports).
Having played TaylorMade's rac MB TP irons previously, he also seems to have switched to the new Tour Preferred irons (3-PW). His new clubs have a small, undercut cavity and allow the company to position weight patents in the heel and toe areas. The Tour Preferred irons also feature TaylorMade's Inverted Cone, which is designed to expand the sweet spot. Click on the image above for a better look.
But the most significant change is Sergio's flat stick. In the weeks leading up to his victory at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in May, Garcia had reverted to a vintage Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter that he'd used in 1999. But after shaping and grinding a TaylorMade Rossa Daytona himself, he sent the putter to the company and had them make a special silver-colored version. Like the Cameron, it's a classic heel-toe weighted design with a plumber's neck and single alignment line. However, unlike off-the-rack Daytonas, Garcia's does not have a red-grooved AGSI+ insert.
No word on how the new putter tastes.

He needs to change the 15th club on Sundays during a Major.

Americans don't have passion? Tell that to tiger woods you moron.

Bob, grow up you muppet!! Tiger is all about himself, that's why he didn't want to be apart of the Ryder Cup! he stands for a brand! yes he is the best golfer, but he is all about money!!

RL,
Yeah, I could see how much passion Sergio had losing to a Ryder Cup rookie 5and4.
How many times did he dump it in the water?

A Great Win for Sergio.
Maybe 2009 he'll win a Major.

He provides motivation for the Americans to shut his whinny mouth!

Congrats to Sergio! Hopefully no.1 very soon. The calibur on European tour is very impressive. They ought to rename it the "World Tour" as that is really what it is.

RL... Sergio is a whiner, nothing more nothing less.. he will not win a major, and will likely choke many more away....

The IQ test "are you smarter than Tiger woods" on the club review articles is a
SCAM !!
I took it, got a text and paid $ for it.
Terms page was not available....
I am surprised you are affiliated with such a scam or that Tigers name is affiliated or he approves such a scam at all.
Makes me want to unsubscribe

Good for Sergio -- I was glad to see he closed the deal on this tournament after so many close calls through the summer. He is obviously gaining momentum and if his putting continues to improve perhaps he'll bag some Majors. Looking forward to next April already...

Everyone knows that you and me and all the weekend duffers can't play with the same equipment as the pros. What I'd like to see is for the top 25 or so players in the world to go into Golf Galaxy, Bob Gold, or any of the other golf equipment companys and pick out a set of clubs off the rack, have them fitted by the same guy that would fit us, and then play a match using those clubs and balls us common folk have to play with. That would really tell who is the worlds best player. With all the "gimic" golf shows that are hipped, a match like that would probably draw more interest than these other events.

Sergio will get a major this year and if Tiger doesnt come back at full strength he maybe able to vatch him another year.
He is clearly the most consistent player[not named Tiger] on tour right now.

RL, please.... When is the last time Tiger went into a tournament thinking about the $,$$$,$$$? The only thing that truely matters to him is the WIN! We may never see anybody as motivated/driven to win as he is again in our lifetimes (I am only 25)... Enjoy history in the making.

Sergio doesn't have the mental game to EVER supplant a healthy Tiger Woods at number 1. He practically wets his pants nearly everytime they play together. Besides, it must be tough with all those mystery forces against you...

I can not believe a legitimate golf magazine would participate in the Tiger Woods IQ SCAM.
Terms page was not available when I took it either and now my cell phone account has been charged $9.99 plus BS text messages every day. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER subscribe to your magazine.

Not true here- Sergio plays the "B" head of the Burner, standing for Blade. These are a one off made specifically for him that have no undercut channel..
