Kenny Perry's Travelers Championship Winning Clubs
During last week's U.S. Open at Bethpage Bloack, Kenny Perry removed his 3-iron and put a 19° prototype TaylorMade Raylor rescue club in its place. According to TaylorMade, Perry used the club successfully out of the rough from 220 yards out on the 10th hole to reach the green and make a birdie. Company reps said that because Perry's angle of attack is shallow, he often has trouble hitting longer clubs from deep rough, but the Raylor's V-shape sole design helped him a lot.
At the TPC River Highlands outside Hartford, where the rough was less severe than at Bethpage Black, Perry put his 3-iron back in the bag, but used a 22° Raylor instead of his 5-wood.
Here is a complete list of the club's Perry used to win his 14th career PGA Tour event:
DRVIER: TaylorMade R9 460 (9.5°) with Fujikura Matore F1 shaft
FAIRWAY WOOD: TaylorMade Burner (14.5°) with Fujikura Re AX TP75 shaft
HYBRID: TaylorMade Raylor prototpye (18°) with Fujikura Rombax TP 75 shaft
IRONS: TaylorMade r7 (4-PW) with FST KB Tour shafts
WEDGES: TaylorMade rac (54°, 64°), Cleveland CG14 (60°) with True Temper Dynamic Gold S400 shafts

hm... breach of contract, nothing you can say about that because they are paying him to play the ball. however, I do know Nike one is not the longest because Tiger doesn't really care for that. all he cares about is shaping it the way he wants, he even said it explicitly in an interview. So to me it's really a non issue because if you're paid to play, then play, otherwise, play what you like and don't get paid.

http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/article/110136 here's a slimmed down article I could find. And I stand corrected- it was the ProV, not the ProV1x.

From what I've read, most of it coming straight from Mr. Gore, he was nixed by Nike for playing a Titleist ball. He said he did his own independent ball testing, and the fitters found the Pro V1x gave him max distance and the spin/control he needed (yeah, that sounds like an ad, but the way he said it was better). Nike wanted him to stay with the One Black, but Jason wanted what was best for him... so they canned him. It didn't take too long before Cobra picked him up. For one of the nicest guys in golf, Nike didn't treat him very well.

I don't think it has anything to do with Cobra.

So what's the story between Gore and Nike? He was doing well with Nike and then his ranking fell out off the planet when he went to Cobra.

Great round by a great guy. After what happened between Jason Gore and Nike, I wonder if Taylormade feels the same about KP playing a Titleist ball? Or is it just Nike that acts like that with its pros?
