PING G30 Complete Line - FIRST LOOK!

Posted at 9:59 AM by Michael Chwasky | Categories: Ping

PING has a quick and easy answer for getting the distance you desire - with no swing changes needed.

The entire PING G30 line, including two drivers, fairway woods, hybrids, and irons, is aimed at providing players with more distance and accuracy while maintaining plenty of forgiveness. This approach begins with the G30 driver ($385), which features a CG location that is lower and deeper in the clubhead than the previous G25, providing a higher MOI and more stability on off center hits. This alteration is accomplished through the use of a lighter and stronger face material that moves 4 grams of weight away from the clubface. A high balance point shaft also contributes to a higher MOI by allowing for a head weight that is 5 grams heavier than that of the G25.

To balance the added forgiveness with more distance, aerodynamic ridges (PING calls them PingG30“turbulators,”) are positioned in the crown of the clubhead. This unique design feature helps increase swingspeed by helping the clubhead move more efficiently through the air. Other features of the G30 include a new hosel design that allows for loft adjustments of up to 1-degree (in half degree increments) in either direction, and sole louvers that improve impact sound while also saving additional weight in the clubhead.

The G30 is available in a standard model that comes in 9- and 10.5-degree lofts as well as a SF (Straight Flight) TEC model that is available in 10- and 12-degree lofts. The SF TEC has more weight positioned in the heel of the clubhead and also has a lighter swingweight than the standard model, making it a bit easier to square at impact (a helpful characteristic for those who tend to lose the ball to the right).

New fairway woods ($275) and hybrids ($242.50) are also included in the G30 lineup. The fairway woods (available in 14.5-, 18-, and 21-degrees) are built with thin Carpenter 475 steel clubfaces that increase ball speed due to more flex at impact. Adjustable hosels allow for loft adjustments up to 1-degree in half-degree increments while high balance point shafts increase head weights by around 3 grams for a higher MOI and increased forgiveness. CG locations are progressive – farther back in lower lofted models and more forward in higher lofted models – for optimized trajectory.

G30 hybrids (available in 17-, 19-, 22-, 26-, and 30-degrees) provide a more square appearance at address than G25 hybrids and contain most of the same design features as the G30 fairway woods but have non-adjustable hosels.

The new G30 irons ($799 steel, $899 graphite) Pingg30iron
are built with a thinner clubface than the previous G25 model to increase ball speed and distance without sacrificing feel (due to an improved elastomer insert in the cavity). Slightly stronger lofts and longer progressive shaft lengths also contribute to increased distance - when all the elements are combined the G30s are between three and seven yards longer than the G25. In addition, longer blade lengths and an undercut cavity along the bottom half of the club combine to lower the CG for increased launch and improved MOI for more stability at impact. A new sole design that has 2.5-degrees more bounce than the G25 improves turf interaction and promotes more consistent contact from all types of lies.
