In the next series of Bridgestone commercials, there is going to be a new face huddled around this barroom table alongside Lee Trevino, Fred Couples, Davis Love and Brandt Snedeker.
The company announced Tuesday that it has signed a two-year deal with David Feherty. The funnyman, 52, is a Golf Magazine columnist, CBS on-course analyst and star of an eponymous talk show on Golf Channel.
In addition to appearing in Bridgestone TV commercials, Bridgestone says that Feherty will appear in a series of Web videos that aim to "educate golfers on golf ball technology and the importance of choosing a golf ball suited to one’s swing characteristics."
It sounds like his sense of humor is already permeating the company. "Truthfully, Feherty wasn’t our first choice," Dan Murphy, Vice President of Marketing, said in a release. "But with Justin Timberlake already taken [he signed recently with Callaway] our options were pretty limited. I guess instead of bringing sexy back, we’ll have to settle for bringing funny back."
