Check out Lexi Thompson's Look at Pinehurst

Posted at 5:15 PM by Michael Chwasky

If you were inspired by Martin Kaymer's stellar performance at last week's U.S. Open at Pinehurst you really don't want to miss this week's U.S. Women's Open at the same venue. And while the women's game is chock full of talent these days, there's nobody who bombs the ball quite like budding superstar Lexi Thompson. Already a major champion, Thompson tears up golf courses and entertains fans with a style that, like Rickie Fowler's, is provided by Puma Golf. Check out the look she'll sport over the next four days of grueling U.S. Open competition here:

Puma Faas Lite Mesh 2.0 Golf Shoes

Posted at 11:42 AM by Michael Chwasky

Puma's newest golf shoe, the Faas Lite Mesh 2.0 ($90), is designed to provide a combination of extreme lightweight performance with spikeless comfort. Weighing in at only 6.8 ounces, the shoe features a thin layer of mesh in the upper section for enhanced breathability in even the hottest conditions. Extra cushioning and comfort are provided by a newly designed sockliner and a proprietary blend of foam and rubber that allows the shoe to mold to the contours of the foot. Stability comes from a stichless midfoot support and durable carbon rubber traction elements in the outsole.

“The Faas Lite 2.0 combines technology with comfort and style, creating a shoe that you will want to wear whether you’re walking 36, grabbing dinner with your friends after a round, or even heading to the gym,” said Grant Knudson, head of footwear for PUMA Golf. “The 2.0 version includes new, strategically placed support pieces that provide increased stability and added support during your swing.”

The new Puma Faas Lite Mesh 2.0 golf shoes are available in three color options: turbulence/white/grenadine, white/black/silver, and grenadine/white/turbulence.

Rickie Fowler's 2014 Masters Puma Look

Posted at 1:24 PM by Michael Chwasky

The Masters is known for its own style, which normally includes a lot of genteel spring colors mixed with green and gold.

Rickie Fowler is also known for his own SoCal style with flat brim hats, bright colors, and matching shoes.

At this year's Masters, Puma has Rickie decked out in a mixture of designs, some a bit subdued, some not at all. Check out Rickie's clothing lineup for next week including the par-3 contest on Wednesday and some Oklahoma State orange for Sunday and think about which look you'd like to add to your closet. Or not.

PUMA announces light (and bright) new golf shoe

Posted at 1:21 PM by Mark Dee

We learned three things about Puma's new Faas Lite line of golf shoes from the above video. They are: 1) Fashionable; 2) Flexible; and, 3) Flammable. It also looks like Rickie Fowler wears them, and they work as well riding jeweled low-rider bicycles as they do for playing golf.

Luckily, the good people at PUMA filled The Shop in on some of the finer points of the Faas Lite and Faas Lite Mesh shoes, which will hit stores the first week of June. Both spikeless models are based on minimalist running ideas, meaning they're super light, flexible, and flat heel to toe to give a barefoot feel. How light? The Mesh tips the scales at 6.5 oz. (5.5 oz. for women's), and the waterproof Lite weight 8.7 oz. (7.0 oz. for women's).

Of course, there's some sizzle to go with the (petit) steak, too. The Lite and the Lite Mesh each come in three distinct colorways (women's come in two), with two sets of laces in shades that need to be seen to be understood. (Brilliant Blue/Limeade? Why not.)

PUMA will also be releasing a limited edition Faas Lite Splatter, which will incorporate graphics from Rickie Fowler's 2010 "Golf Art" expo, where he went Pollack with a pitching wedge on some canvases.

Now the brass tacks. Here's how much they'll cost you:
Faas Lite: $100
Faas Lite Mesh: $90
Faas Lite Women’s: $90
Faas Lite Mesh Women’s: $80
Faas Lite Splatter: $110

As per our previous post, Nike will also be coming out with their minimalist TW'14 shoe that same week. So choose your brand -- and your color -- and pick up a pair to bust your midseason slump.

Cool New Looks from Puma, Adidas and Ashworth

Posted at 11:43 AM by Jessica Marksbury

Sunny Ponte Vedra, Fla. is the pefect venue to showcase the latest spring and summer looks from Puma, Adidas and Ashworth. First up: check out Rickie Fowler's Thursday-Sunday looks for the Players Championship:

Adidas Golf ambassadors Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Jason Day will be sporting the brand's new color-block designs in shades of gray, blue and pink. Unlike the Masters, we won't see the same shirt on each player every day. Instead, they'll rotate the designs Thursday-Saturday. On Sunday, all three players will don the pink shirt not only in honor of Mother's Day, but to help raise awareness for breast cancer.

Of course, every shade of pink needs a shoe to match, and thankfully, Adidas has that covered with a limited edition Adizero Tour "Pink Out" shoe for Sunday's round:

Ashworth ambassadors Sean O'Hair, Stewart Cink and Justin Rose will also rotate their outfits all week until Sunday, when they too will unite in matching pink splendor:

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Rumors had been floating around the Internet for months that Rickie Fowler and Titleist were parting ways and that the young American was going to start playing Cobra Golf equipment. Fowler, 23, already wears apparel and footwear made by Cobra's parent company, Puma, and the clubmaker's newest line of woods and irons, the AMP series, is trimmed in Rickie-preferred orange.

Monday morning it became official. Inside Fowler's new Cobra bag will be a new AMP driver and 3-wood, along with a prototype set of Cobra AMP Pro irons.

Acushnet Selling Cobra Golf to Puma

Posted at 10:38 AM by David Dusek

MIAMI — The Acushnet Company, makers of Titleist and FootJoy products, is selling the third piece of its golf business, Cobra, to Puma.

In a release sent to members of the media this morning, Wally Uihlein, chairman and CEO of Acushnet, said:

"With the sale of Cobra, we have the opportunity to devote all of our resources to the global growth of our industry-leading Titleist and FootJoy brands. At the same time, Cobra is a strong brand with a heritage of innovation, and we wish the quality associates guiding the brand future success. Golfers and our valued partners will remain the key focus throughout the impending sale and we are confident that our customers will continue to be serviced to our high standards"

According to the release, Acushnet will continue to produce and distribute Cobra Golf products for an undisclosed period of time past the final date of the sale. Acushnet will also provide customer service and sales support during that time.

With the deal, Puma will assume ownership of Cobra's inventory, intellectual property and endorsement contracts. Camilo Villegas, who won last week's Honda Classic, is on Cobra's staff. Ian Poulter, winner of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, is also a Cobra staff player.

Barring regulatory issues, the anticipated sale is expected to be completed by June.
