That Masters song: A condition like no other
OK, I admit it. I can't get that Masters theme song out of my mind, and the tournament hasn't even started yet. You know the tune: "Ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding. Ding-ding-ding-ding-diiiiing." Happens every year. Am I the only one who can't shake this? I have a kind of love-hate relationship with the song. I love it because it means the Masters is about to begin. Then again, I hate it because for several weeks leading up to the tournament, I can't hum a tune without somehow going back to "Ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding. Ding-ding-ding-ding-diiiiing." (Update: Turns out the song has words, and you can hear them here. Dave Loggins, of "Please Come to Boston" fame, wrote it for CBS's 1981 broadcast. More from Loggins on his myspace page.)
My good pal Sam Weinman, the golf and hockey writer for the Westchester Journal News, and I have a running gag that somewhere on the grounds at Augusta National that theme song plays in an endless loop in a cavernous dungeon. Anyone who breaks a rule during the tournament (running on the course, carrying a cellphone, that kind of thing) gets tossed into the dungeon and is forced to listen to the song in Dolby Surround Sound. The dungeon is green, of course, and pimento cheese sandwiches are the only food to be found.
Yeah, I've got it bad. If anyone has any thoughts on a song that might override the Masters tune ("Ding, ding, ding. Ding, ding, ding. Ding-ding-ding-ding-diiiiing) and get it out of my head, please do share it and I'll throw it right on my iPod. From ABBA to Zeppelin, I'll try anything.

Where can I get a copy of The Masters theme...to play whenever I want to think I may someday get there?

"world's biggest celebration of corporate masculinity"? Naw...it's more about wealth and certainly pretension--(with a snobbish air..."they're patrons, not fans"). But God I do love the Masters so! Try Pink Floyd-"Money".

Why? What's wrong with this song? Sure, they started advertising the Masters weeks ago. They also start advertising Christmas in July. I hear the music and I stop in my tracks and get a smile on my face. The right of spring is here and that means it's time to start playing golf.

"world's biggest celebration of corporate masculinity"
Get back into the kitchen, and while you're at it, iron my shirt, you pineapple!

Hack if you're going to have an Augusta theme song it may as well come from the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. His "It's a Man's Man's Man's World," first recorded in 1966, is the perfect theme song for the tournament, which is the world's biggest celebration of corporate masculinity.
