At 3 p.m., just as leaders Stuart Appleby and Rocco Mediate were teeing off at the first hole, fans were transfixed by the sight on the nearby practice putting green. Watching Vijay Singh as he worked on his stroke was Chi-Chi Rodriguez, wearing his signature hat and sunglasses, and not-so-signature orange pants.
Said one delighted fan: "Oh, dude, that's Chi-Chi!"

Chi Chi was signing autographs at the Lexus tent on Friday. I got one. But after watching all the commercials during the tv broadcast, I have no doubt that Chi Chi was at the Open because Lexus paid him to do so.
