Tiger tests knee at Torrey Pines
Tiger Woods was at Torrey Pines for practice sessions yesterday and today, and while details are scarce, his knee seems to have held up fine.
Photographers followed him on the course today, where he walked the rugged terrain and appears to have made his usual athletic swings. (Photos from today's practice round.)
Yesterday, according to Larry Dorman of The New York Times, Woods hit shots, tested the greens and, most significant, walked the course. Dorman writes:
"Like his practice session last Wednesday at Torrey Pines, this one was not publicized and not open. It began at roughly 2:30 p.m. and concluded shortly after 5. Woods made no comment to any of the news media members following him: camera crews from ESPN and Sky TV and one print reporter.
Accompanied by a handful of people, mainly guests at nearby hotels who had wandered onto the course, Woods walked all 18 holes, hit some shots and tested the speed of the greens.
Most important, he tested his left knee, which was surgically repaired April 15.
It seemed to be fine. Smiling and joking with his caddie, Steve Williams, and his swing coach, Hank Haney, Woods moved easily up and down the hills on the demanding Torrey Pines course ..."
