Football, schmootball. Cardinals' coach has gone low at Augusta National

Posted at 12:28 PM by Alan Bastable | Categories: Ken Whisenhunt, NFL Football

There’s an old axiom that says if you’re a low-handicapper, you’re probably not spending enough time at the office. Ken Whisenhunt appears to be an exception. In just his second season as the Arizona Cardinals head coach, Whisenhunt has led his team to the NFC championship game ... while maintaining a scratch handicap. The Arizona Repulic reports:

Whisenhunt, who grew up in Augusta, Ga., and tended a leader board at the Masters as a teenager, talks softly (most of the time) and carries a big stick, a.k.a., a TaylorMade r7 driver. He who also plays personalized TaylorMade balls with the No. 45 (his jersey number as a player) and once teed it up with Arnold Palmer at Augusta National, where his best score is a 74.

You’d expect some Cardinals players to also have some game given their home in the golf hotbed of Phoenix-Scottsdale, but Cards kicker Neil Rackers told The Republic:  “I’m pretty sure Coach Whisenhunt would take us, on either a short course or long course.”

The best golfer among the players? "It's definitely not (fullback Terrelle Smith)," Rackers said. "I played with him one time, and he couldn't remember his putter, so the round took an hour longer than it should."

Enough said. Give me a hundo on Philly.
