Can Tiger Woods play golf like a 12-year-old?

Posted at 11:24 AM by Mike Walker | Categories: Tiger Woods

After playing against 18-year-old Ryo Ishikawa at the Presidents Cup, Tiger Woods knows that his rivals will keep getting younger and younger, but this is ridiculous.

Hosting potential investors at his new course design in Asheville, N.C., last week, Woods launched a few ceremonial tee shots on the still-to-be-built course. It must have been one of those days for Woods because he missed a couple drives right, and he asked if someone in the crowd wanted to give it a go, according to The Press of Atlantic City's Scott Cronick.

He got one taker: 12-year-old Mark Benevento Jr. of Somers Point, N.J. The kid absolutely pured two drives.

The best part is Woods's bemused reaction: "How old are you? 12? Twelve-years-old...."

Class Shows and Mr. Woods is as classy as they come.

Mark is set for life. I am sure when he becomes a great golfer one day, he will say that this is the day that changed it all. Way to go Mark. TW is a class act all the way. Thanks Tiger.

Remember the opening scenes in "The Greatest Game Ever Played",where young Francis Ouimet takes up the offer from Harry Vardon. This is very reminiscent of that and what a neat thing to see.

The best part, in my opinion, is hearing Tiger say to Mark "I'm proud of you" after Mark piped two drives down the middle of the fairway. Can you imagine how Mark must feel? He didn't merely hit two drives in front of Tiger and the others, he really impressed Tiger. I'm sure this is a day Mark won't forget anytime soon.
