Report: Woods was unconscious for six minutes

Posted at 10:24 AM by Mike Walker | Categories: Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods was unconscious for six minutes after he crashed his car into a fire hydrant and a tree Friday night according to The Orlando Sentinel.

By the time a Windermere police officer arrived about 2:25 a.m., Elin Nordegren Woods had dragged her husband out of his 2009 Cadillac Escalade. He was lying on the ground, dazed and bleeding from his lips and with blood in his mouth, Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn said.

The crash knocked Tiger Woods, 33, unconscious for about six minutes, according to a call report compiled by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and obtained by the Orlando Sentinel. Bruhn said the golfer faded in and out of consciousness.

Woods was later released from Health Central Hospital in Oconee, Fla., in good condition and is reportedly resting at his Windermere, Fla., home. The extent of Woods' injuries are unclear. A statement released on TigerWoods.com characterized the crash as a "minor car accident." However, Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Kim Montes said that Woods "suffered serious injuries," according to the Sentinel. Woods is expected to talk with the Highway Patrol about the accident today.

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol visited Woods' home on Friday to talk, but his wife, Elin, said that he was sleeping so the troopers agreed to come back on Saturday, according to several news reports.
