Arnold Palmer Invitational site drops Tiger Woods image

Getting fired or temporarily banished by sponsors like Accenture, Gillette and Tag Heuer hurts Tiger Woods in the pocket book. But getting dropped by Arnold Palmer, not only the King of golf but also the game's Mr. Nice Guy, must feel infinitely worse -- maybe like a death-blow to the ego for Woods.

The King's eponymous tournament - The Arnold Palmer Invitational (March 23-26, 2010) - at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando removed Woods from the event's signature promotional banner on its Web site, See the comparison of the old and new banners stacked atop each other in this story on the Orlando Sentinel Web site

Woods lives a short drive from the course and is the tournament's two-time defending champion and a six-time winner overall. The event's director, Scott Wellington, told the Sentinel that the Web site banner's redesign was "not necessarily" prompted by Woods' recent infidelity scandal.  "We are always changing the Web site and keeping it fresh," Wellington said. "[Woods] is our defending champion, and that's not going to change."
