Bubba Watson drives General Lee to Phoenix Open

Posted at 8:39 PM by Golf.com | Categories: Bubba Watson, Phoenix Open

BubbaBubba Watson showed up to the Phoenix Open in style on Wednesday. Watson, with NASCAR driver Carl Edwards riding shotgun, arrived in the original General Lee car used in the "Dukes of Hazzard" television series. Watson recently purchased the 1969 Dodge Charger at a Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale for $110,000.

According to the New York Times, Watson fulfilled a life-long dream by purchasing the car.

An impulse purchase, it was not. Watson said he has “loved the show forever” and has a collection of Dukes of Hazzard DVDs to prove it. His wife, Angie, also can testify to his devotion, Watson said.

“At the time we met she knew that I loved that car and wanted one,” he said.

“We made a deal back then that if I ever won a golf tournament, she would let me get one.”

According to SI's Gary Van Sickle, it looked like Watson had a little trouble parking his dream car on Wednesday.
