Truth & Rumors: McIlroy 'surprised' by Love's pairings

Just because Rory McIlroy is playing in the Ryder Cup doesn't mean he's above the surprise and speculation we all feel when it comes to pairing announcements.

McIlroy, who was paired with Graeme McDowell against Americans Brandt Snedeker and Jim Furyk in the opening match, seemed a bit thrown by Davis Love III's foursome selections, according to ESPN UK:

"To be honest they are not the opponents we were expecting," McIlroy said. "We know that their team is so strong all the way through, but it was a little surprise to see a rookie in their first group.

"It is a great honour to lead Europe out in the Ryder Cup. We are going to go out there and get the blue on the board early."

Of course, that rookie is less than a week removed from winning $11.5 million dollars. Either way, let the games begin.
