Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy to start season in Abu Dhabi

Tiger Woods won't wait long to return overseas.

After a relaxing week in Turkey at the Turkish Airlines World Golf Finals, Woods will open his season in Abu Dhabi, playing the HSBC Golf Championship from Jan. 17-20, according to the tournament's official website.

He'll be met there by an all-too familiar opponent: World No. 1 Rory McIlroy.

Rory and Tiger finished second and third nine months ago, falling short of champion Robert Rock in a shootout.

“This will be the first time I have headed to Abu Dhabi as world number one, and I am determined to keep the wins coming and cement my ranking," McIlroy said in an interview published on the tournament website. "The strength of field means there will be a ton of world-ranking points on offer, so Abu Dhabi will be a really significant tournament that sets the tone for the year."
