Truth & Rumors: Palmer, Arizona become king of iced tea, overtake Lipton

Posted at 7:43 PM by Mark Dee | Categories: Arnold Palmer, Truth & Rumors

Add another jewel to Arnie's crown.Arnold Palmer -- and Arizona, the brand that produces his beverages -- are the undisputed kings of iced tea.

Arizona surpassed Lipton, the former tea-titan, in the bottled beverage sales last year, according to Matthew Boyle of Bloomberg, thanks in large part to the Arnold Palmer line of tea/lemonade drinks.

What's more, Palmer & Co. is pulling away. Despite using rapper Eminem in advertisements, Lipton can't seem to catch Arnie's Army. That's right: No hip-hip mogul is quite as hip as genial octogenarian. Especially one who only charges 99 cents a can.
