Truth & Rumors: Is Rory McIlroy going to Nike?

Posted at 2:52 PM by Golf.com | Categories: Nike, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Truth & Rumors

With Rory McIlroy's Titleist/Footjoy deal up after the year, Brian Keogh of The Irish Times filed a report suggesting, with some confidence, that the world's No. 1 player will sign with Nike next year, to the tune of $250 million over 10 years.

Keogh first reported on this story last week on Irish Golf Desk, and then moved it up to the Times over the weekend. Of course, it's worth noting that Keogh doesn't name any sources. The info comes from "industry chatter," "sources consulted" and the always dependable "speculation." Meanwhile, McIlroy's agent, Conor Ridge, wouldn't comment while his man is still under the Titleist contract.

Keogh says the hypothetical terms of the hypothetical deal would be on par with Tiger Woods's current Nike contract, which has been widely reported to be about $20 million a year.
