Truth & Rumors: Pros to don shorts for Turkey tournament
It's shorts weather this week in Turkey, and Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and the other six players competing in the World Golf Finals might take the opportunity to flash a little calf.
According to CNN's Shane O'Donohue, the pros will be wearing shorts this week at Antalya Golf Club in Belek, Turkey.
The 8 players will be in shorts here in Turkey @ the World Golf Final. Should bring back happy memories of their amateur days and no money.— Shane O'Donoghue (@ShaneODonoghue) October 8, 2012
Just like amateur days. But with money. Lots of it: The winner of the eight-man field will take $1.5 million from a purse totaling more than $5 million.
But, we'll see how many choose to let their ankles breathe. After all, it's only a Tour rule that requires pants. Perhaps this is time to exact some revenge on caddies, who have been allowed to wear shorts on the PGA Tour since 1999.
We suspect most will at least give shorts a chance. What's the point of doing all those toe-taps if you can't show the golf fans of Turkey the result?
