John Daly will be fined for throwing putter at Hong Kong Open

Posted at 11:45 AM by Golf.com | Categories: John Daly

DalyJohn Daly is once again making news for all the wrong reasons. Daly, who is trying to secure a European Tour card, tossed his putter into the trees during the second round at the Hong Kong Open after being frustrated by fans using mobile phones and cameras.

"There were times [it] just was out of control--total shame!" Daly said on Twitter.

He missed the cut after rounds of 72-75.

"Yes, the circumstances regarding crowd manners and behavior will be considered, but when it all boils down there is still no excuse for throwing his putter," tournament director Mickael Ericsson said.

Daly has made eight cuts in 12 starts on the European Tour this season. His best showing was a fourth-place finish at the Qatar Masters back in February.
