Arnold Palmer to appear on cover of Tiger Woods's new video game
Forget about Tiger and Rory. EA Sports, the makers of Tiger Woods's video game, knows who the coolest guy in golf really is.
That's right, Arnold Palmer will share the cover of EA Sports' "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14" with the game's star.
Even though this is Palmer's first time on the cover, he appeared in the 2006 and 2007 versions of the game. In a news release about the game, EA Sports offers a capsule of Palmer's career highlights that might be useful to young gamers more familiar with last year's cover star Rickie Fowler. (McIlroy appeared with Tiger in the European version of "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13.")
Palmer’s professional career spanned five decades and the box art image is taken from his most prolific years during the 1960’s. Among his many accomplishments, he recorded 92 professional victories during his career with 62 occurring on the PGA TOUR. Included in the total are seven major championships including four Masters, one U.S. Open and two Open Championships.
"Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14" includes three-time PGA Tour winner Keegan Bradley, up-and-comer Bud Cauley, LPGA Player of the Year Stacy Lewis and LPGA Rookie Lexi Thompson as well as Palmer and Woods on the list of 25 playable characters. It is the 16th edition of the popular game.
EA Sports does not have an official release date or price yet for "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14". Historically, each new edition of the game appears in early spring before the Masters. Last year's game for Xbox 360 sold for $59.99.
