Truth & Rumors: Tiger Woods cites fatigue as reason for skipping HSBC

After snagging seven-figures for a single round on Monday, Tiger Woods is skipping out on the WGC-HSBC Champions, which started Thursday in Guangdong, China. Sponsors have been vocal in their displeasure.

But it's up to Tiger to set his schedule, and, according to a Reuters report, he sounds eager to get the season over with. Woods, who has previously lamented the length of the season, said he passed up the HSBC because he was tired. Instead, he ran a clinic in Kuala Lumpur -- a clinic that, according to Robert Lusetich of Fox Sports, cost $49,900 a head.

Anyway, here is Tiger's defense against the verbal assault flung his way by those at the HSBC:

“I was tired and doing these things are easy. Competing and getting ready for another golf tournament, I just didn't want to do that,” Woods told reporters at Marina Bay after offering his expertise to 12 selected teenagers.

“I've got four more rounds at my tournament in LA and I'm done until Abu Dhabi next year so I'm looking forward to having this extended break. This is my offseason now and I'm really looking forward to getting away from it."

According to the article, 2012 has been Woods's longest season since 2005.
