Dustin Johnson and Wayne Gretzky's daughter seen together at Kapalua
Dustin Johnson has been spending time in Maui with Paulina Gretzky [right], Wayne Gretzky's daughter, according to Sports Illustrated's Alan Shipnuck. Johnson, who was leading the weather-shortened Hyundai Tournament of Champions after 36 holes, was spotted this week with Gretzky at the Plantation Course at Kapalua.
If the laid-back Johnson looked strangely comfortable on the Plantation Course it comes from the extra time he's spent here. Needing to break in new irons and a new driver, Johnson arrived early and played six practice rounds. (That also allowed him to spend some quality time with his new squeeze Paulina Gretzky.)
Gretzky, 24, is a model, actress and singer, and the eldest of Wayne Gretzky and Janet Jones's five children. She became an Internet sensation in late 2011 when her dad reportedly made her take down her Twitter account after she posted racy pictures of herself. If you're intellectually curious about these photos, Fox Sports has archived them here, and Gretzky's Twitter account has been restored.
Johnson has a habit of bringing girlfriends to the PGA Tour season opener. Last year, he was spotted with LPGA Tour star Natalie Gulbis at Kapalua. When reports suggested that Johnson withdrew from the 2012 Sony Open the next week to patch things up with his previous girlfriend, Johnson denied the relationship with Gulbis, according to the Associated Press.
"For people to say I went home to repair the relationship is completely false," Johnson said. "We're not in a relationship. And yes, me and Natalie have spent some time together, but we're not in a relationship. There's all kinds of stuff going on in the media. Actually, some of this stuff is comical."
