McIlroy hits Miami muni range while Tiger stakes claim for No. 1 ranking
While Tiger Woods was chasing down Justin Rose during the second round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational – as well as Rory McIlroy's No. 1 World Ranking -- McIlroy was working on ironing out some kinks in his game away from the spotlight of a PGA Tour event.
McIlroy ditched the required attire for PGA events and donned a pair of casual khaki shorts while he worked on the range at Miami Municipal Golf Course, just about four hours south of the Bay Hill Course where Woods is attempting to reclaim the top spot in golf for the first time since the last week of October in 2010. (McIlroy was in Miami to watch girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki compete in the Sony Open tennis tournament.)
Rory returns to competitive play this week at the Shell Houston Open after taking the last two weeks off.
