Bubba: I can beat Tiger at Masters 'if he gets sick'

Posted at 1:33 PM by Coleman McDowell | Categories: Bubba Watson, Tiger Woods

Bubba Watson had the confidence to pull off an unexpected wedge shot in a sudden-death playoff during his 2012 Masters victory, but in an appearance this week on Piers Morgan Live, Watson didn't sound too confident discussing his chances at a repeat performance at Augusta National with Tiger Woods playing so well.

"Hopefully he gets sick. I don't think anybody knows how to beat him. It's one of those things where we want to go out there and play our best. I'm going to go out and play my best, and hopefully it's good enough to beat him. And hopefully he's not on his best."

Watson also had some fun with Morgan, telling Morgan during the interview that he had snuck into his office and left some notes. Morgan later tweeted a picture of one of Bubba's notes:

In his three previous trips to Augusta, Watson finished 20th, 32nd and 48th before his breakthrough victory last year. There hasn't been a back-to-back Masters champ since Tiger's successful title defense in 2002, which marked only the third consecutive champ in the 77-year tournament history.
