Losing record continues with Tiger Woods Design

Posted at 10:03 AM by Golf.com | Categories: Tiger Woods

As Tiger Woods nurses his elbow and golf game back to health, his golf course design business continues to suffer.

Plans for a Woods-designed golf course, Al Ruwaya Golf Resort, in Dubai have been scrapped as of this week, according to a report from ArabianBusiness.com

The project was meant to include a championship golf course along with 200 villas, mansions, and palaces. A boutique hotel and golf teaching academy were also in the plans.

It is reported that Woods was paid $55 million to design and promote the ambitious project.

Yet another victim of the economic downturn, work was suspended on the project in 2010. Builders finally pulled the plug this week.

Tiger Woods Design is involved with a number of other projects in Florida, North Carolina, and Mexico. It is reported that every project is at a standstill apart from Diamante Cabo San Lucas in Mexico.

Woods will be hoping for a better victory record at next week’s Open Championship at Muirfield.
