One down, one to go.

Reuters reported that Rory McIlroy has reached a settlement with his former sponsor Oakley, resolving the first of two legal battles vying for the time and attention of the former World No. 1.

"The legal claims brought by Oakley against Rory McIlroy in California have been amicably settled to the satisfaction of both parties," a statement released on behalf of McIlroy said.

"I am delighted the case is now behind me," McIlroy was quoted as saying.

Oakley brought suit against McIlroy in December after the golfer announced his new partnership with Nike, claiming that the new agreement breached the McIlroy-Oakley contract because Oakley had not been given the "right of first refusal" to match Nike's offer.

The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

McIlroy can now turn his attention to his case against his former management company, Dublin-based Horizon Sports Management, by whom he claims to have been misled into signing an unfavorable contract "in circumstances of great informality" at a Horizon Christmas party. Horizon is countersuing for breach of contract.

As he nears the end of a winless 2013, McIlroy is already looking to put the year's frustrations and distractions behind him.

"I've seen more lawyers' offices and more lawyers this year than I care to see in my entire life," McIlroy said before the World Tour Championship in Dubai. "It's not something I ever want to go through again, and I'm making sure that I won't go through it again.
