Tiger Woods hits 'intercontinental' tee shots in Turkey
It's no longer hyperbole to call Tiger Woods' tee shots "intercontinental."
Raising the bar on outlandish photo shoots, Woods on Tuesday hit golf balls over the Istanbul's Bosphorus Bridge, which connects Europe and Asia (see video above).
According to local news services, the bridge was closed from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. local time for the shoot. Istanbul traffic organizers must not have seen much of Woods' play this year, as opposite-lane traffic on the bridge to right of Woods was allowed to pass. No matter. Using what looks like a fairway wood, Woods appeared to hit his shots right down the middle of the bridge.
Woods is in Istanbul for the Turkish Airlines Open, an official European Tour event. According to the Daily Express (UK), Woods is receiving $2.4 million to play in Turkey this week. With this bridge stunt, it appears Woods plans on giving tournament organizers their money's worth. Here are more photos of Tiger's shots from the beautiful Bosphorus Bridge from Getty Images:
